The Big Red Jelly Team challenged themselves post on Tiktok everyday in the month of October. We wanted to branch out of our comfort zone and test what type of content performs best on the platform.
Tiktok is relatively new to the social media sphere, yet its power on business and media has never ceased to amaze. It has become a necessity for all businesses to have a tik tok account. Influencers, businesses, and marketers are taking advantage of this new way of advertising.
According to the Digital Marketing Institute,”TikTok experiences higher engagement rates from the app’s followers than other social media platforms so marketers can achieve significant buzz with a carefully-planned campaign using content that appeals to the app’s audience.”
This was unknown territory for Big Red Jelly, and we learned a lot from the experience!

What Did We Learn about Social Media Strategy?
#1: Setting a goal
When you first want to get started on a social media platform, there are many directions you can take. It’s important to know where you want to lead your social media page and what results you aim to achieve.. Some examples of goals you could have are raising brand awareness, and increasing engagement to your page or website,
#2: Research Current Trends and Topics
Before we started creating content, we needed inspiration, ideas, and a way to keep everything organized. A great way to achieve this is by using a content calendar. Research your chosen platform to get informed on the best posting times, days, and what types of content shine best.
#3: Target Audience
Doing research on a target audience will help your content be organized and have a consistent theme. Of course, your content can be enjoyed by many audiences and demographics! Having a target audience can help you make decisions on things like color, design, music, video styles and trends.
#4: Trial and Error
Not everything you post is going to land, and your brand might not reach 500 followers in the first month. Your content will get better over time, and you will find things you want to keep and things you want to change in the future. However, you will never know until you start posting.
You will refine your social media strategy over time, so don’t expect perfection on the first go.
#5: Content Theme
There are a few ways you can categorize your content. Some examples are Educational, Promotional, or Conversational. To get a better understanding of a desired result, you can try a blend of these themes until you find the one that fits your brand best. After you find it, commit to that theme.
Social Media Strategy is the key to succeed on social media platforms. Taking the time to create meaningful and creative content can only go so far unless you are strategic about the how, when, and why you post.
