Big Red Jelly is the common denominator in their client wins. We’re excited to give attention to a few of our clients and their projects that we got to create and update, like Credence Genomics, Oil Buddy, and King Salmon Lodge.
Client Spotlight: Credence Genomics
Credence Genomics runs DNA sequencing that identifies infectious pathogens with near-perfect accuracy, in a fraction of the time it takes traditional culture-based testing. The technology was ahead of the category, but the brand and website were not, putting the company at risk of looking like just another lab in a sea of hospital blue and clinic green.
Credence Genomics came to Big Red Jelly wanting a brand that could finally match the sophistication of their science, without alienating the doctors and nurses whose training was built around the old method of diagnosis.
Over the course of the project, the Big Red Jelly team ran its full Brand, Content, Build, and Rollout process. Joshua Lee spent the first two weeks learning the science of DNA sequencing before writing a word of strategy, then built a positioning platform around the idea of the Next Evolution. The visual identity broke from the sterile, soft-colored norm of the medical space entirely, with a black, white, and red palette and a Protective Shield logo referencing the five protein complexes in a DNA double helix. Ammon Galvez then led a custom, high-performance WordPress build organized around three distinct visitors: the nurse who needs clinical efficiency, the doctor who needs proof of accuracy, and the distributor who needs fast access to specs and ordering.
The final product is a brand and website that reads as confidently as the science behind it, giving Credence Genomics a digital presence built to earn trust from clinicians who read data for a living.
“We didn’t just want a pretty picture. We needed a visual solution to a perception problem. The brand had to look as smart as the scientists who built the tech.” — Joshua Lee, Brand Strategist
“A biotech website has to earn trust with people who read clinical data for a living. Every decision was about making the site feel like an extension of the science rather than a marketing layer on top of it.” — Ammon Galvez, Build Strategist
Client Spotlight 2: Oil Buddy
Oil Buddy is a quick-lube shop in Mesa, Arizona, competing directly against national chains like Jiffy Lube and Valvoline. What sets them apart is a loyal following of 860 Google reviews at a 4.9-star average and owner Brandon Stapley’s goal of eventually operating ten locations.
Oil Buddy came to Big Red Jelly needing a brand, website, and local search strategy that could hold its own against competitors who dominate through advertising budgets and sheer location count, rather than the personalized service and reviews Oil Buddy already had going for it.
Building Oil Buddy’s presence was a full Brand, Build, and Grow engagement. The Grow team added competitor brand names as negative keywords to stop wasting ad spend on searches for Take 5, Jiffy Lube, and other chains, built a dedicated branded campaign for Oil Buddy’s own name and coupon searches, and published SEO-driven blog content targeting high-volume local search terms like “drive thru oil change,” a 12,100-per-month search term Oil Buddy was ranking 44th for before the content went live.
The results speak for themselves—in April, the Google Ads account produced 142 conversions at a $3.53 cost per conversion on just $501 in spend, with mobile traffic driving 139 of those 142 conversions. Google search position has climbed steadily too, moving up two full spots to the front page over the past month alone.
Client Spotlight 3: King Salmon Lodge
King Salmon Lodge sits on the Naknek River in Alaska’s Bristol Bay, a short flight from Katmai National Park. The lodge offers guided fishing for five species of Pacific salmon along with bear viewing tours, and most of its guests book a trip from thousands of miles away, sight unseen.
King Salmon Lodge wanted a website that could translate the lodge’s history and remote wilderness setting into a site that builds trust fast and makes booking simple, without ever meeting a guest in person before they arrive.
Stephen, our Build strategist worked with the King Salmon Lodge team over several rounds of drafts, including integration with the lodge’s Flybook reservation system so guests can go from browsing to booked without a phone call. Partway through the build, the lodge also asked to add a new Private Charter Catering page, a service they identified was missing entirely from King Salmon, Alaska for private plane charters needing catering on return flights.
The final product is a site that turns a remote, hard-to-picture destination into one guests feel confident booking sight unseen.
