Pestex Inc is a local pest control company in Massachusetts, that combines expertise, versatility, and forward-thinking results to succeed in every environment they encounter. Their unique protocols have been tested and proven in locations as diverse as the North End, Back Bay, Wayland, and Worcester. With four generations of pest and wildlife control and removal experience, and an on-staff Entomologist, there is no problem Pestex hasn’t seen and can’t solve. As a local company they are well versed in Massachusetts pests, their biology, and the tried-and-true methods to keep them under control. They educate their customers, so they are well equipped to be partners in managing their assets.

Understanding Pestex Inc’s Pests

The owner of Pestex came to Big Red Jelly with the understanding that they had a great model and the experience necessary to begin reaching a larger audience. Pestex was doing everything they knew they should be doing, but didn’t quite have the strategy and order in place to achieve their goals. They had a strong customer base, but an unidentified target market; a website which was operational, but no autonomy to optimize it; and tools in place to bring in leads, but no way to properly track the attribution.

Part 01 | Target Audience Research

Understanding Their Audience

The first thing we needed to help Pestex with was establishing who their true target audience was, and the best way to complete this was conducting brand research. We initially completed a brand audit to assess what brand assets they had, lacked or that needed improvement. With the audit complete we did a deeper brand exploration to better understand their business, their ideal customer, their industry, and the important trends in their industry to give us a clear picture of their business landscape to begin developing a brand that would resonate with their target audience.

With an understanding of Pestex, and their industry, we conducted Quantitative and Qualitative research about their audience specifically. With the research complete we were able to provide Pestex with valuable insights about their audience preferences, behaviors, and trends, allowing them to make data-driven decisions to optimize their strategy.

Big Red Jelly locked all of this information in and gathered additional details about Pestex’s strengths and weaknesses to make better decisions regarding Pestex’s brand visuals, messaging, and overall strategy moving forward.

Part 02 | Build

Taking Website Control

Once it was established who Pestex’s audience was, we needed to build a website that was optimized for that audience’s experience. Pestex had a website that was functional, but they had no ownership of the site to optimize their content and begin growing.

Big Red Jelly took Pestex through an eight week process of rebuilding and optimizing their old website to not only have a better user experience for their audience, but that would connect to industry-best tools to further optimize their internal processes. Additionally, Big Red Jelly strategized with Pestex to generate website content that would both lead traffic to the website, and optimized the conversion rate of those leads. A large portion of this was creating location and service specific landing pages to help potential Pestex clients more easily find the service that they needed, and in their area.

With the new website launched, Big Red Jelly ensured that Pestex’s team had video training and walkthroughs on how to conduct any edits or additions to the website going forward, finally giving Pestex the autonomy that they needed to succeed.

Part 03 | Growth Strategy

Rolling It Out

Pestex was suited up with a deeper understanding of their industry and audience strategies, and a world class website, but still needed to establish a strategy to utilize these. Big Red Jelly worked with Pestex on the next steps of rolling out their new material, and beginning to drive traffic to their website. This meant helping them establish their marketing strategy, sales strategy, how they connect these two channels and more.

Pestex ultimately decided to continue working with our team to set up additional powerful tools, and conduct their marketing strategies.

Part 04 | HubSpot Onboarding

Pulling It Together

The biggest push that Pestex needed to grow was pulling all of their tools together into one, rather than working on a Frankenstein-esque hodgepodge of tools (one tool for invoicing, one tool for scheduling, one tool for emails, one tool for this and that), Big Red Jelly walked Pestex through the HubSpot onboarding process.

With this we completely changed their sales and marketing strategies within their CRM, and re-envisioned the way every client touch point worked. With them being set up on one tool they could now visualize, track, and nurture every single touch point their potential clients had with their company.

  • Which ad did they see?
  • What did they see on the website?
  • How did they interact with the website?
  • What content were they interested in?
  • Did they fill out a form?
  • If they didn’t fill out a form, which retargeting ad should they see?
  • If they are a good fit or bad fit, which nurture campaign should they be added to?

This made it easier for their sales team, as they now had everything in one place. They have the CRM tool necessary to fully optimize their tracking and attribution models, allowing them to do everything from understanding how well their ad campaigns are doing, what their ROI is, and what they need to do to continue to grow, to sending out their emails and invoices.

Part 05 | Grow

Managing Exponential Growth

Pestex before their target audience research and Pestex at the beginning of their Grow Membership was truly a night and day difference. Pestex had already experienced a huge amount of growth since beginning their journey with Big Red Jelly, and was ready to take advantage of this. To make sure they were starting off on the right foot, Big Red Jelly began with the foundation of Pestex’s website and growth plan:

  • Conducting keyword research and ensuring the website was using the best keywords.
  • Optimizing the website to have high performance, top notch security, and meeting ADA and WCAG requirements.
  • Ensuring the website was connected to industry standard analytics tools, and set up the proper attribution models.
  • Conducting another holistic audit and creating a strategy specific to Pestex.
  • Setting their team up with workflows and email marketing campaigns, and additional automations to assist their sales team in converting leads.

With this completed, our team continued working to improve their processes, internal marketing and sales strategies, and created a step by step plan to ensure Pestex would reach their goals.
